| The IMO issued a News Release urging governments and the shipping industry to ensure full compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code and related security measures as of 1 July 2004. Concern is raised with regard to repercussions for parties not in compliance and the danger that last minute bottlenecks may lead to plans being approved and certificates being issued without proper verification.
